About the authors…

Andy Backstrom

Andy is a sports journalist and beat writer for Lettermen Row, the Ohio State-dedicated site of the On3.com Network. He was previously the publisher of Eagle Action, the Boston College-dedicated site of the Rivals.com Network. He earned his bachelor’s from BC and his master’s in journalism from Northwestern, where he started this newsletter in 2021. He has bylines in The Boston Globe, USA Lacrosse Magazine, Des Moines Register and Philadelphia magazine. Andy has reported on college women’s lacrosse since 2017, first covering BC’s rise from mid-tier ACC team to perennial national title contender. He’s covered several NCAA Tournament games and Final Fours in Stony Brook, New York, and Baltimore, Maryland. During his undergrad years, he got to know and love the sport and appreciate free-position shots, draw controls and everything else that separated it from the men’s game.

David Korzeniowski

David is a sports broadcaster and journalist currently based in Boston. He grew to love women’s college lacrosse during his time at Notre Dame, where he graduated in May 2020. While in South Bend, David served as a play-by-play broadcaster on ACCNX for the Irish women’s lacrosse team and for twelve other teams on campus. Upon graduation and amid the COVID-19 pandemic, David enrolled in a one year’s masters program in journalism at Northwestern University—another women’s lax powerhouse. He called several games for ESPN3 and Big Ten Network Student U, including the NCAA Tournament matchups between Denver-Stanford, Denver-Northwestern and Duke-Northwestern. After graduating from Northwestern in September 2021, David moved back to his home state of Massachusetts, where he currently broadcasts for Brown University, Holy Cross College, Northeastern University and NBC Sports.
